Cruises in Bodrum

3 ประสบการณ์ Turkey

Bodrum is the place where wooden gulet schooners are not decoration but local manufacture: they are still built here, and half the boats in the bay came off local yards. This is where the tradition of the Blue Voyage began — multi-day passages between the coves of the peninsula, from which a shortened version was carved out for day programmes.

A standard cruise around the Bodrum bays fills the daylight hours: the boat rounds several inlets along the peninsula, anchors in each for an hour so people can swim, and lunch is cooked on board. The lazy day format works the same way but with fewer stops and more time at anchor — it suits those for whom the water matters more than the route. Private yachts are chartered whole, with a skipper, and then the route is agreed on the spot.

Points to note. The peninsula bays are open to wind, and a fresh breeze picks up here regularly in the afternoon — the water is calmer in the morning. Check at booking whether lunch and alcohol are included and how many stops the programme holds: that is exactly what separates the offers. There is little shade on deck, a hat and sun cream are essential, and you usually need your own towel. The season runs from May to October.
