Zelazowa Wola. The manor house in Zelazowa Wola, where Chopin was born in 1810 is one of the main destinations for composer’s admirers from the whole world. Żelazowa Wola is the place where Fryderyk Chopin’s parents met, both working for the aristocratic family which owned the estate. The Chopins had left the place soon after their son Frideric was born, but they stayed in good relationship with the owners, the Skarbek family. Teenage Chopin visited the place at least twice, for the second time during his last summer holidays spent in Poland, before he left the country for good in November 1830. The nature of Polish countryside, stayed with him for much longer being his inspiration. Unable to come back, he had warm feelings for his time spent here. The manor was neglected for many years and the plans to commemorate Chopin here, were difficult to carry out, due to many financial and political obstacles. Fortunately, in the 1930’s the renovation of the house started and an impressive modernist park has been created. Nowaday, the place is visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors yearly, still being a peaceful and pleasant place to spend an afternoon listening to Chopin’s music.

Frederic Chopin was baptised in Brochow parish church on April 23, 1810 and his parents were married there, as was the composer’s eldest sister Ludwika. It is highly likely that the members of the Chopin family combined every stay at Zelazowa Wola with visits to Brochów located 11 km apart.
