Tunisia's water experiences run along a coast of real variety — the Gulf of Tunis in the north, the Sahel coast of Sousse and Monastir in the centre, and the island of Djerba in the south each offer different boat-based sightseeing. Traditional felucca sailing trips on the Lac de Tunis, glass-bottom boat tours above the Tabarka coral reefs, and sunset cruises along the Hammamet bay with the medina visible on the shore work well for sightseeing and photography. The Kerkennah Islands, accessible by ferry from Sfax, offer a quieter and more specifically Tunisian version of an island boat day — fishing communities, octopus traps, and a pace that the resort coast doesn't share.
