Aquaventure fills 22.5 hectares of the Palm Jumeirah crescent beside Atlantis. Guinness certifies it for the most waterslides in a waterpark, which is the narrower version of the usual claim. It also has its own beach.

The three towers

• Tower of Neptune. Holds Leap of Faith, a near-vertical drop of some twenty-seven metres into a clear tunnel through a lagoon of sharks and rays.
• Tower of Poseidon. The second ziggurat, where Poseidon's Revenge drops you through a trapdoor.
• Trident Tower. Thirty-four metres, added in the 2021 expansion, and the reason the slide count moved.

Aquaconda is the oddity. It is a tube wide enough that other slides run inside it. Rivers link the towers for more than a mile, with rapids and wave surges along the way.

How a day here runs

It is a full day and priced like one. The river circuit alone eats an hour, and weekend queues for the headline slides run to half an hour. Beach entry comes with the ticket.

Two shapes are sold from here. One is the day ticket with a private transfer. The other adds the aquarium next door, for a day that is half wet and half dry.

Practical

• Months. Open all year, sensible from October to April. In high summer the towers bake and the pool water stops cooling you.
• Feet. Water shoes matter here, because the walkways between towers get too hot to stand on.
• Shade. There is almost none in the queues, so a rash vest beats sunscreen that washes off.
• Height limits. Enforced on the big slides, and checked at the top of the tower rather than the bottom.
• Extras. Lockers, towels and cabanas are all charged separately.
• Arriving. Monorail to the Atlantis stop, or a taxi along the trunk.
