Copenhagen Scavenger Hunt & Highlights Self-Guided Walking Tour

Two very different Copenhagens turn up on foot here. Nyhavn's coloured townhouses, the Round Tower's spiral ramp and Amalienborg's changing guard string together into the walk everyone photographs, City Hall Square its natural starting point. Cross the harbour into Christianshavn, though, and the second walk drops you into Freetown Christiania — self-governing since 1971, its own murals, workshops and rules replacing the palaces and squares of the first route entirely.
The harbour walk runs on a ticket number entered in the World City Trail app, after which GPS does the rest, with every clue available to read or hear over roughly three hours — plenty for a first orientation to the city's best-known corners. Christiania opens instead with a code texted straight to your phone: a missing friend, a cryptic note, and under an hour of puzzles that lead from the neighbourhood's street art to the Grey Hall at its heart. Both are built around a phone and a small group rather than a guide's timetable.
Practical. July days average near 21C and January hovers around freezing, and rain can turn up whatever the season; midsummer daylight holds until late evening while the sun sets before four in December. Renting a bike closes the distance between the harbour and Christianshavn faster than walking either route on foot, though neither needs wheels to work. Christiania enforces its own photography rules more strictly than the rest of the city, so it pays to check them before arriving rather than partway through the walk.
