Street Food and Walking Tour in Palermo

Duration
3 hours
Languages
English, Italian

Discover Palermo's distinctive street food on a walking tour led by a local guide, a must for anyone who takes Italian cuisine seriously. Taste street food directly from the stalls of local vendors where it would be difficult to come across on your own: "lo sfincione" (the typical Palermo focaccia topped with onion, breadcrumbs, tomatoes), "le panelle" (chickpea flour fritters), "le crocché”(made with potatoes),“arancine” filled with meat or butter (stuffed rice supplì), sweetened by the lust of “cannolo” (wafer filled with ricotta cream). For the more courageous there is also a taste of "pani ca meusa" (bovine spleen). But the tour will also be an opportunity for a short visit to the Cathedral, one of the monuments of the Arab-Norman Itinerary since 2015 part of the Unesco Heritage, for a walk along the ancient Cassaro, now Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and for a stop at the Quattro Canti, the center of the historic center of Palermo which divided the ancient Panormus into the four districts. The tour starts at 10.30 in Piazza Olivella, in front of the entrance to the Antonio Salinas Archaeological Museum and ends after three hours with the cannolo tasting. If you are a cruise passenger, the appointment is at 10.00 in front of the Hotel IBIS "President", in front of the port exit.
