Full-day Private Tour to Erice and Trapani from Palermo
You will be off the usual tourist routes and visit isolated and peaceful places. Your driver, also a guide, will pick you up in the morning in a comfortable van, and you will head to Erice. A historic town that was known in ancient times as the city of the hundred churches and convents, Erice is located on top of Mount Erice at about 750 meters above sea level and overlooks the city of Trapani. You will see the wide, spectacular view that opens from the town, observing Trapani's peculiar sickle-like shape, the Nature Reserve of Mount Cofano and Custonaci at the foot of the mountain. The guide will show you around the town, taking you to the most prominent sites, including the temple dedicated to Venus, the castle, the towers and the beautiful Assumption Cathedral or Duomo di Erice. You will be able to taste the traditional almond sweets that are famous all over the world. In the afternoon, you will visit Riserva naturale orientata Saline di Trapani e Paceco, an Italian nature reserve. It is well-known for its Salt Museum in an old mill that features tools and an exhibition of the traditional activity of the artisanal production of salt. Inside, you will find a traditional Sicilian restaurant and taste the local cuisine. After the walking tour around the Saline, you will go to Trapani. The guide will take you around the ancient city that was founded by the Elymians and had seen the Greek, Roman, Vandal, Ostrogoth, Byzantine, Arab and Norman rule. It is located on the seacoast with a historic center with numerous churches, monuments and the Cathedral. You will also have some free time to do shopping and then depart to your hotel in the evening.
