Sibenik Virtual Tour

1 hour

This would be a perfect tour for those who want to explore the historical sites of Šibenik without leaving the comfort of their home. Via ZOOM call, the local guide will show you around the city and share its remarkable history. You will get to see the Cathedral of St. James, the central church in Šibenik that has been under the protection of UNESCO since 2000. Built between 1431 and 1536 by several architects, it features the combination of Gothic and Renaissance styles and has been constructed with stone only, without any kind of binder. The guide will take you to the cathedral' beautiful baptistery that is definitely worth seeing, also showing the statues of Adam and Eve and 72 human heads carved in stone on the external part. They belonged to unknown individuals, passers-by, sailors, merchants and peasants who posed as the cathedral was being built. Šibenik is the oldest native Croatian settlement of the Adriatic Sea, and it has seen Venetian, Austro-Hungarian, Yugoslavian and, finally, Croatian rule. Being a frontier of the western civilization and Christianity, it played an important role in Venetian-Turkish wars, and this period has left 4 beautiful fortresses, St. Michael, St. John, Šubićaevac and St. Nicholas. You will virtually walk through the old part of the town that is full of churches, old noblemen palaces and traditional dalmatian stone houses.

Highlights: the Cathedral of St. James, St. John's church, Unique coats of arms on Šibenik palaces, Fat Street, the City Hall, the oldest church in the town, the Music Square, St. Francisco monastery.

Departure: Mon, Wed, Fri. Includes: a virtual tour of Šibenik via ZOOM.
