Online Tour of Old Goa Region
This will be your chance to rediscover the magic of Old Goa through a live online tour, while staying in the comfort of your home. Your guide will be on site and you will join the interactive tour via video call. You will experience the grandeur of Velha Goa, which used to be one of the leading cities in the world between the 16th and 18th centuries, as well as see the Basilica of Bom Jesus, The Church of St. Francis of Assisi and Se Cathedral. Old Goa tour will begin at Se Cathedral that was built in Manueline style to mark the Portugal's victory over an invading Muslim army in the early 16th century. Afterwards, the guide will take you to the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the finest examples of baroque architecture in India. Translating as 'Good Jesus', 'Bom Jesus' used to be the way infant Jesus was referred to. The Basilica is a landmark in the history of Christianity and features the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier who, along with St. Ignatius Loyola, had founded the Society of Jesus. You will also be taken to the Church of St Francis Assisi. It was established in 1517 when Portuguese Franciscan friars landed in Goa, and you will see that the construction has a mixed architectural style. Tuscan order had been applied for the exteriors, while the main altar was built in rich Baroque style with Corinthian features.
