Full description

We will embark by boat (about 35 minutes trip) to join my family’s village on a small and beautiful island on the river of Hoi An. 

Upon your arrival, you will be served a fresh and delicious fruit juice, a typical Vietnamese fruit-based drink. While you enjoy your drink, It will be the opportunity to learn about the authentic Vietnamese countryside life and meet Grandma.

From here, we will go to my family’s home where you will begin your sophisticated cooking lesson. Learn how the rice paper, used in the popular and succulent eggroll, is prepared and how to prepare several typical dishes of this unique region:

-Banh Xeo (small rice flour crepes) a specialty of Hoi An.

-Grilled, marinated pork brochettes with a special sauce.

-Green papaya salad

 -Fish prepared according to a local recipe.

* Vegetarian menu on request: Banh Xeo, Eggplant grilled, Green papaya salad, Mushroom, and tofu.

Once the meal has been prepared, we will enjoy the meal in my grandmother’s garden. You will also be served pumpkin soup and “Xí Mà“ a dessert (black sesame pudding).

We will return to Hoi An by bicycle with a lot of discoveries and surprises! The 9 km trip will lead you through the stunning countryside, with several stops along the way to try out the famous basket boats, and learn great artisanal traditions.

Itinerary

A Culinary Day in My Grandmother’s Traditional Home. Take a boat ride through the delta of the Hoi An River to reach my village, a small island where you’ll be welcomed with a **Sinh Tố**, a traditional Vietnamese fruit smoothie. Discover rural life by meeting my 90-year-old grandmother and learning how to make rice paper and use a traditional stone mill. In a bamboo house, prepare and enjoy four local dishes, with a vegetarian menu option available, accompanied by a pumpkin soup and a traditional dessert, the **Xi Ma**.

An Authentic Cycling Adventure in the Heart of Vietnam. After finishing your cooking class and enjoying your meal, continue the adventure with a bike ride to discover the authenticity of Vietnam.Cycle through a timeless world and marvel at traditional craftsmanship. Meet skilled artisans who build wooden boats using ancient techniques and discover the colorful art of weaving Vietnamese straw mats. You’ll also have the chance to learn the secrets behind crafting the famous round basket boats and make numerous stops filled with discoveries and meaningful encounters.Along the way, observe farmers working in the rice fields and take in the breathtaking landscapes surrounding you.
