Dubai Ice Rink sits on the ground floor of The Dubai Mall, an Olympic-sized sheet of ice in the middle of one of the busiest shopping centres in the world. It is open to all abilities: the general session is a straightforward public skate, and skate hire is included, so you can arrive with nothing and be on the ice in a few minutes. Beginners can hold the barrier or hire a support aid, and instructors are on hand for anyone who wants a lesson rather than a lap. The rink runs themed sessions through the week - disco skating under lights, synchronised skating displays, and ice hockey when the local teams are playing - and it is a popular choice for birthdays and group outings. Sessions are timed, so check your slot before you arrive. Wear or bring thick socks, which make hired boots far more comfortable, and gloves are strongly recommended: the ice is cold and, on a first visit, you will probably meet it. The rink is fully enclosed and air-conditioned.

Itinerary

Dubai Ice Rink, Dubai Mall. Collect your skates at the rink on the ground floor of Dubai Mall and take to the Olympic-sized ice. The rink sits in the middle of the mall under a high glass atrium, so there are spectators above you and the Dubai Fountain a short walk outside. Skate aids are available for beginners and marshals are on the ice throughout the session. Sessions run about ninety minutes including skate hire.

The mall and the rinkside spectator areas are step-free, lift-served and stroller friendly. Skating on the ice itself is not suitable for wheelchair users.Skate hire is included, so you need only bring yourself - but wear or bring thick socks, which make hired boots far more comfortable, and gloves, which are strongly recommended: the ice is cold and most first-timers meet it at least once. Long trousers are more comfortable than shorts for the same reason. Sessions are timed and run to a published schedule, so check your slot and arrive 15 minutes early to collect and fit skates. The rink is on the ground floor of The Dubai Mall and is fully indoors and air-conditioned. Beginners can hold the barrier or hire a support aid at the counter; instructors are available for lessons at extra cost. Helmets are available and advisable for children. Spectators can watch from the surrounding gallery without a ticket.
