Enjoy a full-day tour that visits multiple locations. You will be off the usual tourist routes and visit isolated and peaceful places. Your driver, also a guide, will pick you up in the morning in a comfortable van, and you will head to Erice. Erice is a medieval hill town in Sicily that has been there for a long time. It is close to the port city of Trapani on the island's western coast. The quiet historic town is surrounded by defensive town walls and topped by a castle. Its mountainous height of about 800 meters above sea level gives it a good view of the area.
See the big, beautiful view of Trapani's strange, sickle-shaped shape, the Nature Reserve of Mount Cofano, and Custonaci. The guide will show you around the town, taking you to the most significant sites, including the temple dedicated to Venus, the castle, the towers, and the beautiful Assumption Cathedral, or Duomo di Erice. You can taste the traditional almond sweets that are famous worldwide.
In the afternoon, you will visit Riserva naturale orientata Saline di Trapani e Paceco, an Italian nature reserve. The Trapani and Paceco Salt Pans Natural Reserve is one of the most interesting places along the western coast of Sicily. It combines the exciting history of traditional sea salt harvesting with the stunning beauty of over 150 species of birds that use this protected area for nesting and migrating. It is well-known for its Salt Museum in an old mill that features tools and an exhibition of the traditional activity of the artisanal production of salt. You'll find a traditional Sicilian restaurant where you can sample the local cuisine.
After the walking tour around the Saline, you will go to Trapani. The guide will take you around the ancient city founded by the Elymians and have seen the Greek, Roman, Vandal, Ostrogoth, Byzantine, Arab, and Norman rule. It is on the coast and has a historic center, a lot of churches, monuments, and the Cathedral. You will also have some free time to go shopping and then depart for your hotel in the evening.
