Zadar Virtual Tour
On this virtual live tour, you will join a local guide on ZOOM and walk through beautiful Zadar, a city where ancient architecture and modern art combine. This is a great chance to get to know the city's history that is over 3000 years old. As the guide will take you around the atmospheric streets of the old town located on the peninsula, you will pass 34 old churches, each of them boasting rich history. The oldest among them is the Church of St. Simon or Crkva Sv. Šime that houses one of Zadar's main sights, the silver relic of the saint and the patron of the city. On the tour, you will also be taken to the Church of St. Donat, one of the best-preserved pre-Romanesque buildings in the world. A recognizable symbol of Zadar, the church is no longer being used for religious ceremonies and functions as a museum. Also, it serves as a venue for classical music concerts each summer. You will be shown the well-preserved remains of a Roman Forum, another remarkable ancient site, and the Cathedral of St. Anastasia that is famous for its impressive organ that was nearly destroyed in the last war. Towards the end of the tour, your guide will take you to the latest and unique installations of Zadar, the Greeting to the Sun and the Sea Organ. Officially opened in 2005, the Sea Organ is an architectural sound art object. It was a winner of the European Prize for Urban Public Space in 2006, working with the waves' motion and 35 pipes that produce a musical soundscape and featuring a light display to create visualizations of the organ's sounds.
