Petrelë Castle is situated 15 km south of Tirana and is renowned for its rich historical significance and stunning panoramic views. The castle is located adjacent to the ancient Illyrian city of Persqop, which dates back over 3,000 years. Historically, Petrelë was also referred to as Petralba in various documents, a name derived from Greek meaning 'the stone of Alba' or 'The stone of Albanians.' This designation is fitting, as both the town and its castle are constructed atop a massive stone formation on a small mountain. Petrelë Castle stands as one of the oldest structures in the region, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the area's ancient heritage.
