Embark on a journey to Lezhe, situated in the northwest region of the country. Historically known as Lissus, Lezhe is renowned for the Mausoleum of Skanderbeg, the Albanian National Hero, which will be included in our visit along with the ancient city walls. Following this, we will explore the castle before proceeding to Shkoder. Shkoder is one of the oldest cities on the Balkan Peninsula and once served as the capital of the former Illyrian Empire. The city offers a striking landscape, featuring the Albanian Alps to the north, Shkodra Lake, and the Buna, Drini, and Kir rivers, all combining to create a vibrant natural setting. During the Ottoman era, Shkoder was the capital of the Iskodra Vilayet and today remains the most significant city in Northern Albania. There will be a brief stop in Lezhe, revisiting its historical significance as Lissus and its association with the Mausoleum of Skanderbeg. The itinerary continues with a guided city tour of Shkoder, followed by a visit to the Castle of Rosafa, where you will learn about the legend of Rozafa and explore the museum housed within the castle. From the summit, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, Shkodra Lake, and the valleys shaped by the Drini, Buna, and Kir rivers. The tour includes a lunch break before returning to Durres or Tirana.
