Full description

Twelve minutes in the air over Dubai, flown by Falcon Helitours from the heliport at Atlantis The Palm on the crescent of Palm Jumeirah. After check-in and the safety briefing at the helipad, the Iconic tour turns out over the coast and gives you the city the way photographs never quite manage: the sail of the Burj Al Arab seen from above, the fronds of Palm Jumeirah resolving into their full symmetry, the Marina towers packed tight along the water, and the Burj Khalifa standing clear of everything around it. Your pilot points out the landmarks as they pass and the cabin is glazed for viewing on both sides, so there is no bad seat. Flights are short, run frequently and depart on a schedule you choose, which makes this easy to slot into a half day rather than build a day around. Check-in is 45 minutes before your slot, so allow around an hour and a quarter on site in total. Bring a camera - the hour before sunset gives the best light of the day.

You present photo ID, are weighed for aircraft balance and take the pre-flight safety briefing, then walk out to the Atlantis heliport on the crescent of Palm Jumeirah. You lift off straight over the water for a twelve-minute circuit: the fronds of Palm Jumeirah resolving into their full shape beneath you, the sail of the Burj Al Arab seen from above, the Marina towers packed along the coast and the Burj Khalifa standing clear of the skyline. The pilot points out landmarks as they pass and every seat has a window.
