Full description

A 30-minute jet ski ride on the open water off Dubai, with the city skyline across the bay. You are fitted with a life jacket and given a short safety briefing before you set off - starting and stopping, turning, and how the safety lanyard works - and an instructor is on the water with the group throughout, so no previous experience is needed. You can ride solo or take a passenger. The Gulf here is warm all year and usually calmest in the morning, which is the easiest slot for a first ride; once the instructor is satisfied you are steady on the throttle, the pace is yours. Wear swimwear and bring a change of clothes and a towel, because you will get wet. There is nowhere dry to keep a phone on the ski, so use a waterproof pouch if you want photographs of your own. Minimum age and licence requirements are set by the operator on the day, and riders under the stated age can go as a passenger with an adult.

Itinerary

Jet ski ride from JBR Beach. Meet the instructor at JBR Beach, put on your life jacket and take the controls briefing. Jet skis are straightforward to ride and no licence is needed. You head out onto open water along the coastline with the instructor leading, free to open the throttle on the straights and carve turns in the flat water. Ride time depends on the option you select at booking.

The minimum age to ride is 18. Younger travellers can normally go as a passenger with an adult - confirm at booking. A life jacket and a safety briefing are included and both are compulsory. Wear swimwear and bring a towel and a full change of clothes, because you will get wet. There is nowhere dry to keep a phone on the ski, so use a waterproof pouch if you want your own photographs. Sunscreen is worth applying before you set out; reflected glare off the water is strong. Sessions run to a fixed start time - arrive 15 to 20 minutes early for the briefing and the paperwork, as the slot cannot be extended. Not suitable if you are pregnant, have a back or neck condition, or have recently had surgery. Operation depends on sea and weather conditions and may be rescheduled on safety grounds.
