Two Award Winning Wineries Visit with Wine Tasting in Thira, Greece
A wine tour in the heart of Santorini: two wineries and a wealth of flavors and impressions! The Greek island of Santorini is a visual delight: imagine a volcano almost submerged under the Aegean Sea. This stunning Mediterranean island was born of a volcanic eruption. Its volcanic island soils contain basalt, granite, pumice, obsidian, and ash. The high content of silica and metal oxides makes these soils acidic, which gives the wines a low pH and a pleasant mineral taste.
On our tour, we will visit two wineries and get two different experiences of Santorini and its history. We will introduce you to Santorini's notable wines, distinctive flavors, and unique nuances. We will take you through the life of a local vintner: the grapevine and grapes in round forms called "kouloura," harvesting, transporting the harvest in baskets on donkeys, crushing the grapes, grape must, and barrels. You will experience unique flavors served with some appetizers to accentuate their zest. A true fusion of taste and beauty!
