Old Cairo, Khan El-Khalili Bazaar and National Museum of Egyptian Civilization Private Tour
A sensational tour to the heart of magical Cairo! Visit the oldest Coptic church in Egypt, pass by the infamous Hanging Church, and take a shopping tour to the renowned bazaar in Egypt, Khan El-Khalili!
Many Egyptian wonders await us on our journey, such as the church of Abu Serga (the name of St. Sergius in Arabic). It is one of the oldest Coptic churches in Egypt (some historians date its construction to the 8th or even 5th century BC), located in so-called Old Cairo, the historical part of the city. Abu Serga is an essential place for Egyptian Christians and one of the architectural gems of Cairo. Another architectural treasure, the Hanging Church, is located nearby. It is one of the oldest and most iconic in Old Cairo, built atop 2nd-century Roman ruins. It is one of the first Egyptian churches built in the basilica style (with some influence from Islamic art traditions), so it is undoubtedly worth a visit.
One of our next stops will be the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, home to a 5,000-year-old collection of Egyptian artifacts reflecting Egyptian civilization from the prehistoric period to the present. And indeed, we won't miss the incredible Khan El-Khalili market, a kaleidoscopic open-air bazaar where you can find anything from spices and unique fabrics to jewelry and souvenirs. A journey not to be missed!
