Elephant rides in Bali are very well-known, as elephants are native species in Indonesia and have co-evolved with humans throughout the country's history. They are an integral part of the tourism industry, which prompted the government to help endangered elephant species survive (which is extremely important as some subspecies, for example, Maximum Sumatranus, only live in Sumatra). For example, the Sumatran elephant is now protected in sanctuaries, where they are fed, loved, and cared for. You can safely enjoy all sorts of activities in such places feeding, bathing, and playing with these peaceful animals. Indonesians value elephants in everyday life so you can find museums dedicated to them all across the country!
