Vesuvius Private Hiking Tour in Pompei, Italy
Our walking tour is the perfect way to see the tremendous Vesuvius, the incredible volcanic craters, and the breathtaking scenery of the Bay of Naples! Vesuvius, which destroyed the cities of Pompeii, Ercolano, and Stabia during its eruption in 79 AD, is the most visible element of the Bay of Naples panorama. As you approach our stop, you'll see streams of hardened volcanic material on the side of the road. Visiting Vesuvius Crater is an unforgettable experience; with your guide, you will have all the information to enjoy it to the fullest!
The walk begins from the ticket booth, along a trail that climbs up the volcano's slope until you get a spectacular view of the crater! The beautiful panorama that opens from the top and extends from the Bay of Naples to Pompeii rewards the effort. At the top, you can still see the large concrete hooks mounted for the Vesuvius funicular. It opened in the late 19th century and inspired the famous Neapolitan song "Funiculì funiculà." And if you wish, you can always get more information about the history of Vesuvius from the volcano guides.
