Chianti is known for its beautiful scenery and excellent red wines, collectively known as Chianti wine. The climate and soil in the Chianti area are perfect for winemaking, so the wines made there are considered to be some of the best in the world. Chianti was a critical agricultural commodity in Tuscany for a long time until World War II ravaged the area, leaving many people with debts they couldn't pay off and farmers fleeing to pursue better lives. Out of adversity emerged breakthroughs that profoundly altered Tuscany. In the 1960s, legislation was created to safeguard wines. Vernaccia and Chianti were the first wines designated DOC (Designation of Origin). In 20 years, the wine made was cut in half, but the quality was emphasized. As a result, the country became known worldwide as a leader in winemaking. On this half-day tour, you can see the beautiful Tuscany wine region and try some of the best wines.
