The most famous symbol of the city is the 75-meter-high Clerigos Tower, which was built in 1775. Previously, it performed two functions at once - it was a bell tower and a landmark for sailors who entered the port. Today, there is an observation deck on the tower, to which 225 steps lead.

The main iron bridge of Porto: Ponte de Dona Maria Pia, connecting the two parts of the city, was designed by Gustave Eiffel.
