From April till November
Your trek will start from the stable, located next to the smaller village of Aygehat, Lori Province. Early in the morning, you will ride along the rim of Debed canyon until you get to the medieval Tsater church, carved out of rocks at the edge of the canyon.
You will then ride down the scenic Dzoraget valleyand following a picnic lunch, continue towards Hnevanq, an impressive medieval sanctuary, hidden in the woods on the opposite bank of the river. The construction of the monastery was sponsored in the 7th century by the representatives of Orbelians, derived from glorious Mamikonyans princely family, the ancient leaders of Armenian military forces.
Your next stop is the hilltop forts of ‘a brother and a sister’ lying over the Dzoraget River. Here you can find medieval forts on top of steep rocky hills, between which the rapid and stormy river turns into a quiet backwater, creating the most exciting scenery of the valley.
And finally, your rides along the river will take you back to the stable. Overall, you will ride 22km distance.
