Explore the vibrant and historical township of Soweto. Conclude your day at the renowned Apartheid Museum, where you will be taken back in time to the days of Apartheid and South Africa's 20th century history.
After collecting you from your hotel, our accredited tour guide will drive through the suburbs of Johannesburg and take you to the Constitutional Hill for a guided tour of the precinct. Whilst exploring downtown Johannesburg, we drive through the Carlton Centre which used to be the place to be in the 80s and has the second-tallest building in the Country.
This biggest soccer stadium in Africa, which hosted the opening and final matches of the 2010 FIFA soccer world cup. Here, we drive by, taking beautiful pictures of the Stadium.
As part of our tour of the township of Soweto, we drive by this former British military hospital which was used during World War II. Your guide will also take you to this popular landmark of Soweto township. Old power station cooling towers, decorated with beautiful murals by the local artist.
This house, turned into a museum, is where Nelson Mandela lived with his family from 1946 to 1962. We will take a guided tour of the house. Site of the June 16, 1976, Soweto Student uprising. We visit the Memorial and not the Museum, as exhibitions are also found at the Apartheid Museum, which is a major highlight of the tour.
The Apartheid Museum illustrates the days of Apartheid and the 20th century history of South Africa. Here, you will take a self-guided tour of the museum with audio, visual and reading materials on exhibition. Then, your tour guide will take you back to your pick-up point, where you will relax and reflect on the day's experiences. It takes at least 2 hours to go through all the exhibitions.
After visiting Mandela House Museum, you will have an opportunity to walk around Vilakazi Street and have a Buffet lunch at Sakhumzi Restuarant. It is a popular "Shebeen", (township restaurant) where guests are treated to some of the local dishes. This is an optional-recommended stop for lunch, your tour guide will arrange a table for you, if you elect to have lunch here.
