Discover the tastiest Greek street food in Athens and check out local favorite spots that most visitors miss! It’s the perfect way to eat like a true Athenian.

During this street food tour you will taste a variety of snacks/street food like the famous Koulouri, a favorite Greek bread sesame ring. You will then sample a traditional Greek pie with crispy filo pastry while exploring the Central food market area (closed on weekdays/Saturdays at evening hours and Sundays) where local sellers offer the best Greek ingredients and Athenians do their daily shopping.

You will also savor Souvlaki or Gyros in pita bread, the quintessential Greek street food and you will find out what the famous Peinirli looks and tastes like. A delicious, fluffy Greek style pizza boat with a special cheese mix and crispy dough!

Got a sweet tooth? Time to treat yourself to some Greek dessert! Try loukoumades—Greece’s answer to donuts—crispy and golden on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside.

All in all, you will experience the best and most well-known street food of Athens while exploring some of the city's most vivid and artistic neighborhoods.

Itinéraire

Meeting point. We meet at Athinas 7 street, Athens 105 54, Greece, in front of a pastry shop called LONIS (if you come by metro please use Monastiraki - Athinas street exit).

Monastiraki. We kick off our culinary journey in Monastiraki—Athens’ buzzing heart—where ancient landmarks meet lively food spots. Surrounded by history, this area is home to some of the city's most iconic eateries.

Psirri. Next, we head into the vibrant Psirri neighborhood, a creative hub full of character. Known for its eclectic mix of street art, tavernas, and hidden gems, it's a favorite hangout for locals and visitors alike.

Athinas street. We stroll along Athinas Street, the lively artery connecting Monastiraki to the Central Market. This historic thoroughfare is packed with authentic shops and traditional food stalls.

Evripidou street. Known for its fragrant spice shops and specialty delis, Evripidou Street is a must for food lovers. (Please note: most deli shops are closed in the evening.)

Central Market (Varvakios Agora). Athens’ bustling Central Market is where locals source the freshest ingredients—from seafood and meats to spices and cheeses. (Please note: the market is closed during evening hours.)

Aiolou street. We wrap up our tour along Aiolou Street, named after the Greek god of winds. This lively stretch is lined with eateries and offers fantastic views of the Roman Agora and glimpses of the Acropolis.
