Horse Riding Georgia Through Wild Landscapes of Vashlovani

Horse riding Georgia offers a rare chance to slow travel down and feel the land beneath you. This two day horseback riding journey takes you deep into Vashlovani, where riding replaces roads and horses become your connection to nature. Instead of rushing through viewpoints, you ride across open plains, ridges, and winter pastures while a tour guide leads the way. Compared to classic hiking, riding allows you to cover long distances without strain, yet still stay immersed in scenery. Nights are spent in tents under wide skies, far from towns, lights, and noise. Horse riding Georgia here feels raw and grounding, an experience built around movement, silence, and trust between rider and horses, not staged attractions or fixed schedules.

What to Know Before You Start Riding

This experience is accessible, but preparation matters.

  • Wear long pants and closed shoes suitable for riding
  • Pack sun protection, evenings can cool quickly
  • Expect basic camp conditions, no hotel facilities
  • Riding pace is calm and suitable for beginners
  • Follow the guide closely in remote areas
With realistic expectations, horseback riding becomes relaxed and rewarding rather than tiring.

More Facts About This Experience

Vashlovani is one of Georgias most unusual protected areas, often compared to African savannas because of its semi desert terrain. The park is known for rare steppe ecosystems, wild pistachio trees, and ancient seabed formations. Georgian filmmakers and nature documentarians frequently use Vashlovani as a filming location for historical and wildlife projects due to its untouched scenery. The area hosts wolves, gazelles, eagles, and dozens of reptile species. Horses have long been part of life here, used by shepherds crossing the Shiraki fields, making horseback riding a continuation of local tradition rather than a tourist invention.

Experiences That Pair Well With This Ride

Many travelers balance this remote journey with a guided walk around Tbilisi to reconnect with urban culture after nature immersion. A Kakheti wine tour adds another layer, shifting from horses and tents to vineyards, monasteries, and tastings. Together, these experiences frame Georgia from wild landscapes to everyday life, creating contrast without rushing.

Who Will Enjoy This Experience Most

This tour suits adventurous couples, friends, and solo travelers who enjoy nature and slow travel. It works well for beginners comfortable around horses. Families with young children may prefer shorter rides. Anyone seeking space, silence, and authentic horseback riding away from crowds will appreciate this journey.
