Romance on Phu Quoc comes down to sunset and a little privacy. The sun goes down over the sea on the west side, and the best seat is on the water or on sand at the end of a boat day. Gam Ghi and Kim Quy are the quieter stops, and May Rut Trong has coconut shade for the afternoon. In the far south, Sunset Town is built like a Mediterranean village with a clock tower, and its Kiss Bridge is two curved halves with a 30 cm gap between them. The cable car crossing to Hon Thom gives the other long view over the water.

Private is the main romantic format: a car and a guide who speaks English and Vietnamese, and a route that you can reorder. A private day in one half of the island takes about nine hours, and a day joining north and south takes about eleven, with lunch at Sao Beach or Rach Vem. A private canoe day with the cable car lets you choose the stops. Shared evenings suit two as well: an island barbecue at sunset starting about 13:00, or a four-hour squid-fishing sail from 17:00, after which the crew can drop you in Duong Dong to carry on alone instead of driving you to the hotel.

Practical. Sunset trips work best in the dry months, November to April, at 30 to 32C by day with little cloud. In the rainy season the evening boats sail from further south and the sky may stay grey. Ask about vegetarian barbecue menus when you book. Hotels outside Duong Dong pay a pick-up surcharge, so ask before choosing a beach resort. Cancelling a day or more ahead is normally free.
