Saranda to Konispol guided tour, Albania

We are in a region with a strong agricultural connotation, where the rhythm is still marked by the seasons and the tranquility is earned after hard work in the fields. Konispol is a land producing delicious oranges and mandarins, a land of dances in traditional costumes, a land of music festivals dedicated to borders, and to encounters between cultures. During our tour we will discover these and other activities, always keeping in mind that, today, the real treasures are above all the cultural and natural ones. Moving from village to village we will also discover that the local tradition is based on a unique hospitality all its own. Hospitality that manifests itself above all while dining at the table. In these parts centuries-old recipes are reproduced with painstaking passion, the result of the encounter between Albanian and Greek cuisine.

Visit Konispol - historical-geographic information At the extreme south of Albania, on a hill about 400 meters high, there is the town of Konispol, divided into several hamlets (Çiflik, Markat and Xarrë). The southernmost settlement in the province of Vlora and the whole of Albania is also where we can find influence of Greek culture. The first to move here were the Caoni, a Greek tribe from Epirus. Thanks to the fertility of the soil, olive trees and citrus plants were grown here, which were then traded through the Greek port of Igoumenitsa.

Even today, Konispol Albania still maintains links with Greece, whose northern border is just a kilometer away. On a cultural level, however, this community retains a strong identity. The population is dedicated to the cultivation of vines, olives and citrus fruits and for the most part are Muslim. Albanians of the Cham ethnic group, from the Chameria region in Epirus, have lived in these parts since the dawn of time.
