Full description

A tandem skydive over the Palm is the most recognisable jump in the world, and this is it. After check-in and a full safety briefing with your instructor, you board the aircraft and climb to 13,000 feet above the coast. The exit is over the Palm Drop Zone, which gives you roughly 60 seconds of freefall at around 120 miles per hour with the whole of Palm Jumeirah laid out beneath you - the fronds, the crescent, and the Gulf running out to the horizon. Once the canopy opens the pace changes completely: a long, quiet glide over the water and the Marina skyline before you touch down at the landing area. You are attached throughout to an expert instructor, and a camera flyer jumps alongside to record the whole thing. Allow around four hours in total, most of which is briefing, fitting your kit and waiting for your slot.

Itinerary

Check-in and safety briefing. You arrive at Skydive Dubai's Palm drop zone on Al Seyahi Street in Dubai Marina, check in, sign the waiver and are weighed. A tandem instructor fits your harness and runs through the exit position, freefall body position and landing - the briefing is short because a tandem passenger has nothing technical to do.

The climb and the jump. The aircraft climbs to roughly 13,000 feet, taking about 15-20 minutes, with the coastline opening up through the window. Attached to your instructor you exit into around 60 seconds of freefall at approximately 200 km/h.

Canopy flight, landing and your footage. The parachute opens at about 5,000 feet for a five-minute canopy ride, quiet enough to talk, with Palm Jumeirah laid out below you - the fronds, the crescent and the Marina skyline behind. Landing is on a marked area at the Palm drop zone. Photo and video packages are shot by the instructor and can be bought on site.
