You will visit one of Saghmosavank's unique monasteries on the edge of the picturesque Kasag River Gorge. The gorge is flooded with light and striking in its transparency. Founded between 1215 and 1235, the monastery, which had an impressive library, served as Armenia's scientific and religious center for a long time.

You will begin your private tour with a driver (guide) from Yerevan and visit the massive letters of the Armenian alphabet. The Armenian alphabet monument is located in Artashavan, at the eastern foot of Mount Aragats. It was built in 2005 to commemorate the 1600th anniversary of the creation of the Armenian alphabet. The monument is an intriguing display of 39 Armenian letters carved in stone. The Armenian alphabet has been used to record the Armenian language since 405 or 406, and it is still used to represent the Armenian language in written form today. Mesrop Mashtots, an Armenian linguist and church leader, created it to make the Bible more accessible to Armenians and to spread Christianity. Your guide will assist you in locating and photographing the letters of your name.

Aragats, a lone extinct volcano, is the highest mountain on the territory of modern Armenia and Transcaucasia. This remarkable natural monument is located at 40°32 East longitude, its central elevation covers an area of more than 820 square kilometers.
In prehistoric times, a volcanic eruption accompanied by an explosion destroyed the top of the mountain.

There is a folk legend related to Aragats, according to which St. Grigor Lusavorich (the Illuminator) climbed to the top of the mountain to pray and at night he was illuminated by an unquenchable lamp hanging directly from the sky. Legend has it that this lamp is still lit at night, but only the initiated can see it.

On the southern slope of Aragats, facing the Ararat valley, stands out a fortress-castle Amberd, which was the family estate of the Pahlavuni princes in the 10th-13th centuries.
