The monument to David Sasunsky is one of the most significant in Yerevan.The Armenian people have created numerous epics over the centuries. Heroic epics most characteristically and in detail reflect the national spirit of Armenians. The whole image of the nation is most reflected in the epos "Sasunci David. The epic was created in the 7th-8th centuries, when our people were attacked by Arab invaders.
The vital force, the best aspirations, thoughts and feelings of the Armenian people were embodied in the protagonist of the epos - in the image of David. David is an invincible strongman with superhuman strength, a patriot, a humanist, a defender of workers and peasants, a selfless brave man, a peaceful virtue. David is so beloved by the people that he was given a divine title, under the name David.
Cafesjian Center for the Artsis an art museum in Yerevan founded by Gerard LevonCafesjian, an Armenian-born American businessman and renowned collector. The Armenian government provided the center with the Cascade complex, an impressive architectural and monumental composition of five terraces.
The mission of the center, as conceived by its founders, is to preserve the best samples of contemporary art from Armenia and other countries and to show the international community the rich Armenian culture.
The National Opera Theater received a new building, designed by the great Armenian architect A. Tamanyan, which is one of the landmarks of Yerevan.
In 1956 the theater repeated its success with the opera "Arshak the Second".The Opera and Ballet Theatre has its unique place in the life of the Armenian public.
