Quad Bike in Dubai

Quad biking near Dubai happens outside the city, in the desert to the southeast: the operator base camps sit near Lehbab and Al Faya on the Hatta road, about forty minutes from downtown. The sand runs red with iron oxide and the tall ridges begin right behind the flat warm-up ground. Rides come in three lengths — thirty minutes on the training loop, an hour out over the crests, two hours with a photo stop.

Machines run from 200cc automatics for first-timers to two-seat 700cc and 1000cc units closer to buggies: roll bars, harnesses, a weight limit. Briefing, helmet, goggles and a balaclava are in the price, hotel pickup usually too. Thirty minutes costs 150 to 250 dirhams, two hours 500 to 800; on a dinner safari the quad section adds 100 or 150. That package sells most: dune bashing in a 4x4, a short camel ride, a camp with barbecue, tanoura and shisha, back near nine at night.

For the handlebars alone, take the plain quad tour without the camp — cheaper and two hours shorter. Solo riding starts at 16, at 18 with some operators; younger visitors go as passengers or lap a fenced area on 90cc kids machines. No licence is needed, but everyone signs a waiver. Closed shoes and long sleeves are required: the exhaust runs hot and the surface passes 50 degrees at midday. From June to September departures are sunrise or after dark; October to April is the comfortable window. Ask whether fuel is included and how many machines one instructor leads.
