Itinerary

Londorossi Gate to Shira 1 Camp. The journey begins at Londorossi Gate for registration before driving further up to the trailheads. You will hike through the heather and moorland zones to reach the first campsite on the Shira Plateau.​Starting Point: Londorossi Gate​Destination: Shira 1 Camp

Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp. A steady trek across the plateau allows for better acclimatization. You will explore the volcanic rock formations of the Shira Cathedral before settling at Shira 2.​Destination: Shira 2 Camp

Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (via Lava Tower). This is a "climb high, sleep low" day. You will ascend to the Lava Tower for lunch to help your body adjust to the altitude before descending into the beautiful Barranco Valley.​Key Landmark: Lava Tower​Destination: Barranco Camp

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp. The day starts with the famous scramble up the Barranco Wall. Afterward, the trail crosses several ridges and valleys to reach the Karanga Valley campsite.​Destination: Karanga Camp

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp.  is a short but steep climb to the "Base Camp." You will spend the afternoon resting and hydrating in preparation for the midnight summit push.​Destination: Barafu Camp

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp. The summit push begins around midnight. You will reach Stella Point at dawn and continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating, you will begin the long descent to Mweka Camp.​Summit: Uhuru Peak​Destination: Mweka Camp

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate. The final descent through the rainforest leads to Mweka Gate, where you will sign out and receive your summit certificates. Ending Point: Mweka Gate
