We will pick you up from your accommodation (please provide your location) or you can meet us at the Cultural Center of Mindelo.

From there, enjoy a scenic drive through the mountains to Monte Verde Natural Park, the highest point on São Vicente Island at 774 meters (2,539 feet). Along the way, your guide will share insights about the island’s history, culture, and daily life.

At the summit, relax with a cup of locally grown tea or coffee at the Tea House* (closed Sundays & Holidays), or sample the traditional local tea liquor while taking in breathtaking views. On clear days, you can see the neighboring islands of Santo Antão, São Nicolau, Santa Luzia, Ilhéu Raso, and Branco. The panoramic views of Mindelo and its coastal beaches are truly stunning from the top.

Itinerary

Pick up at your accommodation or meet in front of Cultural Center. We will pick you up at 09:30 from your accommodation in Mindelo (please confirm your location), or we can meet in front of the Cultural Center of Mindelo

Scenic Drive to Monte Verde via Mindelo’s Towns to the Mountain Road. Travel comfortably by private car from Mindelo through towns, to the winding mountain roads as your local guide shares insights into the island’s landscape, culture, and daily life.

Monte Verde. Our exciting drive will take you outside Mindelo, driving through the mountains to the highest peak of the island where you can explore, sightsee, and learn about the island's history and daily lifestyle. At the summit, enjoy a cup of locally grown tea or coffee at the Tea House or try the local tea liquor while taking in the spectacular views. On a clear day you will see the Islands of Santo Antão, São Nicolau, Santa Luzia, Ilhéu Raso and Branco - Mindelo and the Coastal beaches are stunning from the top! Let us take you on a journey to Monte Verde.

Return to Mindelo. After taking in the panoramic views from the peak of Monte Verde, we begin our scenic descent back to Mindelo. The drive winds through the island’s quiet mountain roads and past small rural communities, offering a final glimpse of São Vicente’s natural beauty and daily life.  Your guide will return you to your accommodation or drop-off point.

Travel will be by vehicle, with a chance to stretch your legs during the stop at Monte Verde.The tour reaches the summit of Monte Verde at a high altitude of 774 meters (2,539 feet). This experience may not be suitable for people with vertigo or a fear of heights.The Tea House only accepts cash payments, where you can also buy local products. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes or sandals. Don’t forget sun protection (hat, sunscreen) and a bottle of water. It’s also recommended to bring a sweater or light jacket, as it can be cooler at the summit.
