Sightseeing in Morocco is sold in three lengths: a medina on foot, a day by car from a hub, and a week or more by road. The walk takes about three hours with a licensed guide, starting from Jemaa el-Fna in Marrakesh or running through the medina and Kasbah in Tangier. Rabat is done by car in a little over three hours, and in Casablanca the sight is the Hassan II Mosque, sold as a ticket with transfer or inside a city tour. Fes is sold mostly as a stop on longer routes, or as the start of a three- or four-day Sahara loop.

Most Morocco sightseeing tours start in Marrakesh, and after that it is a matter of road time. Casablanca to Marrakesh runs about two and a half hours each way, Casablanca to Tangier about four, Marrakesh to Ouarzazate about four. Tangier sells the north as day trips: eight to ten hours for Chefchaouen, nine for Tetouan and Asilah. The private week from Casablanca covers Rabat, Meknes, Volubilis, Moulay Idriss, Fes and Marrakesh. Moulay Idriss grew around the tomb of Idris I, and non-Muslims could not stay the night there until 2005. Two stops on that loop share a design: the Koutoubia minaret in Marrakesh set the pattern that Rabat's Hassan Tower followed, and so, across the strait, did the Giralda in Seville.

Practical. Winter is a working season. January afternoons reach about 19C in Marrakesh and 16C in Tangier, though nights fall to 6C and 9C, and Tangier's rain peaks from November to January. Some listings include tickets, as several for the Hassan II Mosque do; many leave entrances to be paid in dirhams on the day. Most day trips cancel free until 24 hours before, a block of private ones until 72 hours, and private multi-day routes often until six days.
