Itinerary:
We will pick you up at your hotel in Punta Cana depending on the time you have chosen to take you to the beautiful Cabeza de Toro beach.
There we will get on a glass bottom boat that will take us to the platform in a 30-minute trip. There we will equip ourselves with wetsuits and our electric scooters with which we will dive to about 4 meters deep during a 15-minute dive.
Do you think that riding an underwater scooter is complicated? Do not worry. Our Scuba Doo are easy to fly. No previous experience is needed!
During the dive, a guide will help you move below the surface to see the beautiful seabed of Punta Cana.
To conclude the activity, we will sail to El Niño: one of the main diving spots in Punta Cana. We will snorkel there!
After finishing diving in this beautiful point, we will return to Cabeza de Toro to take you back to your hotel or resort.
The Scuba Doo tour runs every day, except sundays, in the morning and in the afternoon. The return to your hotel is scheduled at 11:20 or 15:30, depending on the shift you have chosen.
Scuba Doo Punta Cana, Underwater Scooter at Cabeza de Toro
Scuba Doo in Punta Cana is one of those activities that sounds slightly unhinged until you're actually four meters underwater on an electric scooter watching a parrotfish drift past your helmet. This Dominican Republic water experience uses a pressurized diving bell helmet covering your entire upper body, meaning no mask fogging, no equalizing struggles, and zero prior scuba experience needed. A glass bottom boat transfers you from Cabeza de Toro beach to the platform, where dive master certified instructors equip you with the underwater scooter and brief you in minutes. The 15-minute scooter dive is followed by snorkeling at El Niño reef, one of the best marine life spots in the Caribbean. The whole activity runs mornings and afternoons, every day except Sundays.
Tips Before You Ride
A few things worth knowing before your Scuba Doo diving day:
- Glasses wearers can participate fully, the helmet's bell effect eliminates the need for contact lenses or prescription masks
- Children under 8 and adults over 70 cannot join, pregnant women and those with heart or back conditions are also excluded
- Bring cash for souvenirs and tips, no card machines operate at the water platform
- Sunscreen, a towel, and sunglasses cover the boat ride portion before and after diving
- Morning shifts return at 11:20 AM, afternoon shifts at 15:30, choose based on your day plan
- No wetsuit experience or swimming certification required, professional divers accompany every group
Hotel pickup from Punta Cana, Bavaro, Macao, and Uvero Alto is included in the tour.
More Facts About This Experience
Scuba Doo technology was originally developed in the 1980s as a recreational adaptation of professional underwater helmet diving used by marine researchers. The Cabeza de Toro reef system sits within a protected Caribbean marine corridor, home to over 200 recorded fish species. Punta Cana's underwater landscape gained broader recognition after several luxury travel shows on Discovery Channel featured the Dominican Republic's reef diving as among the most accessible in the Atlantic. The Cuba Libre toast served at the coral reef during the scooter ride has become a signature moment that guests consistently highlight across travel review platforms.
What Else to Do in Punta Cana
After going underwater, staying above it is just as rewarding. A full-day catamaran trip to Saona Island delivers open-bar sailing, powdery beaches, and a starfish-filled natural pool, one of the most iconic boat excursions in the Dominican Republic. A party catamaran tour closer to Punta Cana combines water sports, music, and Caribbean sunshine in a shorter, high-energy format. Catalina Island tour offers world-class snorkeling at The Wall dive site, a dramatic underwater ridge that even experienced divers rate among the best in the region.
Who Will Love This Activity
Curious travelers who want something beyond beach lounging will find Scuba Doo genuinely thrilling. Families with children aged 8 and above, couples trying water activities for the first time, and groups of friends chasing the most talked-about Punta Cana experiences all fit naturally into this tour. No diving background needed, just enthusiasm.
